Why did we send a card into space?
Like all dragons, we love a challenge! We know our sleeves protect cards extremely well. But dragons don’t settle for “extremely well”. We strive for truly out-of-this-world protection. So, we created the ultimate card protection test: The Space Test. We sent a rare and expensive Pokémon card to the edge of space and had it plummet back to Earth at more than 200 mph (320 km/h). Exposed to rain, wind and freezing temperatures (-70 °C -94 °F) with only Dragon Shield sleeves to keep it safe.

How can a card survive falling from space?

The card was triple-sleeved with a Perfect Fit Sealable Inner Sleeve, a Matte Dual Art Sleeve and our Outer Sleeves. This now literally space-tested protection kept the card 100% safe through freezing temperatures (-70 °C -94 °F), rain, wind and a 100,000+ feet (30,000+ meters) plummet to Earth at 200 mph (320 km/h).

A piece of TCG history—making a real impact for children in need
Some items earn their magic not from ancient runes, but from the paths they travel. We launched the first Beckett Black Label Reshiram EX Pokémon card to the edge of space, beyond the clouds like a rare treasure carried off by a dragon’s wings. When it returned to earth, we placed this one-of-a-kind artifact into a charity auction, giving collectors a chance to claim a piece of TCG history for themselves.
The auction ended with the card sky rocketing to an out of this world $57,500! All of that is going to The Toy Foundation. That's money that is going to make a difference for kids in need. We're incredibly grateful to everyone that's been part of this cosmic voyage making this possible.
