Dragon Shield & I
For those who don’t know me, my name is Brad Nelson, and I’m a professional Magic: the Gathering player. For eight years now I’ve traveled the world playing Magic. In that time, I’ve won tournaments, qualified for elite events, and was even crowned “Player of the Year” on a worldwide stage. Throughout all of my time in this game, I’ve only enjoyed one product to protect my cards: Dragon Shield.
From the beginning of my time playing Magic, I could tell the difference in quality between Dragon Shield and their competition. Dragon Shield products are above and beyond the best quality you’ll find on the market when it comes to protecting your cards. Not only that, but their attention to quality means you won’t have to replace them as often as other products when it comes to damage. These sleeves just last longer! This is an important feature when it comes to keeping a large collection protected. I personally don’t have time to constantly replace sleeves as I travel around the world. I want a product that last, and that’s exactly what I get when I buy Dragon Shield. I put their logo on my Team Genesis apparel because they’re a company I can rely on.
Team Genesis ended up making Team Worlds by being one of the two best teams in the entire season, but most of our fans were more impressed by how cool these sleeves are. I’ve used them at every event since I’ve gotten them, and almost every opponent comments on how cool they are. I truly feel blessed for Dragon Shield making these for me, and the rest of Team Genesis.
Of course everything isn’t about the products you use when playing Magic, but one thing I’ve learned over the years is that you get what you pay for. I’ve tried other products from time to time, and have always run into issues with them that I don’t have with Dragon Shield. Tears, rips, gunk accumulation, bent corners, and everything else that can be frustrating about sleeves is just not something I have to worry about with this product. Now they won’t last forever, but the mileage you get out of them blows any of the competition out of the water.
It’s nice when you’re in a tournament and don’t have to worry about these little issues; you can just focus on the game itself. Focus is very important to me, and the main reason why I’ve always chosen Dragon Shield products to protect my cards. I don’t always want to be changing my sleeves, or worry about when I have to replace them. I want to think about winning my next match, and I truly believe this lack of stress has helped me throughout my career.
This is how I’ve felt my entire career, but it wasn’t until recently that I got a chance to talk with some of the employees from Dragon Shield. What I learned is that they are passionate about their product and how always looking for ways to improve to give their customers the best experience possible. Passion is what keeps me going as a professional Magic player, and is something I’ve learned to respect in others.
Now I don’t know what’s next for me. Hopefully I continue to keep up this level of dominance on the professional stage, but whether or not that’s true I can be confident that this will be the product I use for my duration collecting cards.

Brad Nelson is an American professional Magic The Gathering player. In 2010, he finished in the top eight of two Pro Tours, San Juan and Amsterdam, and became the 2010 Player of the Year after defeating Guillaume Matignon in the first-ever Player of the Year playoff match. This made him the first American player to win the Player of the Year title since Bob Maher won it in 2000.
Brad Nelson currently plays with his own custom made art sleeves by Dragon Shield.
